Discovery Children’s Dentistry provides pediatric dental care for children of all ages. When patients arrive to Dr. Cyrous Sheikh’s Carlsbad office, they enter another world in a jungle-themed waiting room.

In the waiting room, patients watch movies on a state-of-the-art audio/visual system or they can play with the coolest toys and videogames available.

Parents can accompany their children to the initial examination, but Dr. Sheikh recommends allowing the kids to have direct communication with the dental staff on future appointments.

The idea is this: If children are allowed to personally engage with the dental staff, they are likely to be comfortable and easy-going on future visits. More important: they will listen to the staff’s suggestion about proper dental hygiene.

To make sure parents are at ease while in the waiting room, Discover Dentistry keeps parents educated and in the loop with what is going on before and after appointments. There is an open door policy and parents are more than welcome to watch any procedure or examination if requested.

Discovery Dental believes in making sure each patient’s needs are taken care of. The office provides services ranging from basic checkups to complex general anesthesia for sleep dentistry. Typically school age patients are treated with local anesthetic and laughing gas. With a wide range of anesthetic options, Dr. Sheikh will evaluate the need of each patient and make a recommendation while explaining other options.

Dr. Cyrous Sheikh has 16 years of work experiences, licensed in and practiced in California, Minnesota and Wisconsin Masters degree research on effects of different milk formulas on baby teeth.
